Beachgoers
Last year I took a lot of pictures of people on the beaches, and then cut out the figures from these documentary photographs.
For this reason, they often don’t have legs or arms because they were hidden by foreign objects, and since I can’t use images of a human face without permission I had to strip them of their heads as well in order to achieve the legitimacy of the images.
As a result, my figures began to resemble old antique sculptures that have been preserved in fragments without a nose, without arms and a head. Despite the fact that we are accustomed to perceive crippled sculptures as a standard of beauty and harmony of the ancient world, my figures cause rather anxiety and horror of the modern world.
